This user identity must be mirrored across both cloud-based and local user ID, to ensure that access is the same online and locally, and all relevant data is accessible to users.
Alongside the desktop setup, configuration is also important across different browsers and operating systems including personal devices such as laptops and mobiles. Every device must be accounted for and set up correctly, whether they are company-owned devices or employees’ personal devices being used as part of a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) strategy.
Storage and network setup
Retrospectively, you should also check that your network setup is functioning as it should be and offering all of the things that it needs to be for daily use. Firewalls should be in place and there should be sufficient bandwidth and strong internet connections. Additional DNS settings should be saved correctly to point to Office 365 servers. In addition to this, all files should be accounted for during the migration process, and put into the correct locations.
Support and training for staff
For the smoothest transition, there should be training for staff before the migration process as well as following it. This could include what changes to expect, how to do basic things that they will need to do on a daily basis, and when their mailboxes will go live. They should also know what processes to follow to report any problems. Ongoing support should be available and SLAs agreed in order to manage any issues that occur.
