THE
STORY
The firm provides a range of IT services, including a number of fully featured Legal Practice Management Systems delivered as integrated solutions which combine hosted hardware, cloud based software, digital dictation, office applications and technical support to law firms of all sizes. In late 2011, with demand for its services increasing, the firm decided to move from the shared Amazon EC2 platform to its own racks in a private data centre.
THE
help4IT EFFECT
With all of its clients using Windows systems, the firm has built strong technical expertise across Microsoft software environments. However, the move to its own cloud and data centre required additional VMware and Linux expertise. As Victor van der Poel, the firm’s Technical Director explains, “as strong proponents of outsourcing for expertise, we turned to help4IT, who brought a level of knowledge and understanding around virtualisation and Linux systems which was essential in helping us quickly build a reliable and scalable server infrastructure.”

Working in partnership, help4IT and Accesspoint built a high availability server infrastructure delivering managed applications and hardware to the legal and professional services sectors. The mission-critical production environment has achieved 100% uptime since launch and is used by over 1100 UK clients including Edwards Duthie Solicitors, TV Edwards LLP, and Bindmans LLP.
help4IT has also provided managed Linux-based firewall services to Accesspoint and, according to van der Poel: “The guys at help4IT are incredibly knowledgeable about the systems we have deployed and are always on hand to provide ad-hoc consulting and advice. This is definitely a relationship we will be continuing into the foreseeable future.”
